Red wine of ruby color, little covered. Very floral, it smells of field, freshly cut grass. We also get aromas of red fruit, currant. In the palate is an easy drinking wine; live, fresh, a hint of salty, and with a good acidity. Perfumed and subtle, it is a wine with a good retronasal. Very honorable, it reminds us that this is a wine of terroir, closely linked to the soil where it grew, an Atlantic wine, with all that implies. Great value for the price. 11 $.

At Rúa 11, León

The city of León (Spain) is one of the most important landmarks of the Camino de Santiago, and it is in the middle of this medieval city where Rúa 11 is located. During its three years since it has been opened, it has become one of the most emblematic taverns, becoming a reference for whose that love the world of wine and vermouth.

We can find the tavern in  the medieval quarter, located in Rúa street, formerly called Rúa de los Francos, since it was and is, the traditional way of access to the city by the pilgrims who venture along the Camino de Santiago French.

At Rúa 11 we will find more than one reason to repeat. In a cozy atmosphere we have a great variety of vermouths - more than a hundred - as well as an important wine list, with a special dedication to local denominations such as Bierzo and Tierra de León. To taste wines as well as vermouth or any other drink, there is a good selection of free "tapas", as it is customary in the city, as well as a magnificent menú of toasts and other viands.

Acontia. A tasting with Maite Geijo

The brand Acontia belongs to Liba and Deleite, a family winery from Tudela del Duero (Valladolid, Spain), which after years dedicated to the elaboration of wines made for export, they have been proposed to redefine its market strategy. To come up whith this propose, they bet for wines of short production but excellent quality. Through the excellent explanations of Maite Geijo, winemaker and project manager with her husband Roberto Martin, we discover the secrets and details that keep their wines.

The winery Liba and Deleite  elaborates in Ribera del Duero, and in Toro. There is a before and an after in this change of trend, and this has much to do with the elaboration of wines in barrels of Navarrese oak. Two barrels to test such a noble tree were to blame. An entire experience that as we could hear, and experience, it gave the wine qualities that until then neither the French oak nor the American could contribute. The Navarra oak offers different characteristics for its toasted aromas, and its subtle coffee notes. Very different from the vanilla or coconut of their American and French relatives. This short experimental production, opened new horizons to the winery, to produce very personal wines with a lot of character, as we could see the diners gathered at the restaurant Norai Huelva, thanks once again to the commercial and informational work of The distributor Tierra Nuestra.
