Tasting Viña Zangarrón, Toro, Zamora, Spain

The wineshop Tierra Nuestra, from Huelva (Andalucía, Spain), hosted a very interesting tasting evening, where were paired wines from winery Viña Zangarrón  (Toro, Zamora, Spain) with amazing dishes in a popular tavern in town.
María, the reputed winemaker of the cellar, wellknown for her excellent work in producing organic wines, was in charge of the presentation. An act not without pleasant surprises, such as testing a sparkling  wine produced from godello grape, or the experience of tasting a new brand wine: Flor de Cerezo.

Juliette, a sparkling white wine from grape-based godello, was the first surprise of the evening. A wine that stands out for its color, balance, elegance, and especially for its delicate bubble that brings to mind a French champagne, but with all the characteristics of the grape godello. An awesome discovery. Strawberries and aged cheese were chosen to pair it.

It was the moment also for a young red wine with just one month barrel, Flor de Cerezo. It is very aromatic, fruity on the palate, with many nuances that remind us of red fruits. Tinta Fina de Toro (a red grape) in all its essence. Easy to drink and pair with many dishes; on this occasion it was accompanied by pasta.

A suggestive name for the next wine, Vino del Buen Amor, which was not indifferent to us.  With three months of barrel aging, manages to combine wood aromas, with red fruit typical from Tinta Fina. As result an aromatic and persistent wine. It was tested with a dish of tuna tartar and chocolate,  which it was a success!

To finish such enjoyable evening, Volvoreta an amazing and magnificient wine. With only six months in barrels presents the structure of the great wines that have posed much more time in contact with oak. A very complex wine, structured, with tertiary aromas, spices, chocolate, and red fruit and candied. A wine to be decanted hours earlier, as Maria the winemaker insisted.
Truffles prepared with wine Flor de Cerezo gave the finishing touch to this evening dedicated to the wines from this small winery from Zamora. A vanguardist winnery that definitely must be watched it out!
