Seville has the largest old quarter in Spain and one of the three largest in Europe. Mostly of Arab origin, it is an endless succession of labyrinthine streets, alleis, and squares, where the murmur of the water and the scent of the orange blossom make it a rewarding experience that is hard to forget.
Among its countless monuments include the cathedral of Santa Maria de la Sede de Sevilla in Gothic style, which has the largest surface in the world. The Alcazar, the Archivo de Indias, the María Luisa park, the Giralda, the old minaret of the Almohade mosque of the late twelfth century, or the Torre del Oro, also Almohade (twelfth century). They are all monuments that have earned for Seville the title of World Heritage City by UNESCO since 1987.
Genuine neighborhoods such as Santa Cruz, Triana or La Macarena offer endless bars and taverns where it is possible to savor their varied cuisine based on the Mediterranean diet, enjoy wines and beers, and of course, their tapas. It is not strange to be able to listen to flamenco live in one of the many local "tablaos" that exist in the city accompanied by a wine from Sherry or a "Manzanilla" from Sanlúcar.
