Demencia, a signature wine

Demencia de Autor

Signature wines from Bierzo, a small production wine region from the Northwest of Spain. The admiration for the Mencia grape took to the winemaker Nacho León to start a new project in this region. As result of his commitment, a new brand was born, Demencia de Autor ( Author´s Dementia), a product of his dreams; a winery of a short production, fewer than 20,000 bottles nowdays, but fewer in the begining, all they made with care: Demencia and Pyjama were the brand new.

What began as an exciting project, has become a winery that every year improves its product. Nacho feels real passion for the wine, and he defends the purity of his wines produced in the most natural possible way, looking for the handcrafted and avoiding abuse of sulfites. The wine is placed in very small deposits of only 1,500 liters, and even if this means more costs and more work, also makes a better control of the evolution of the wine.
The barrels where ultimately the wine rests, come from high-quality French coopers. It works with selected natural lees resulting from the fermentation itself. The wine undergoes several processes of racking in the most traditional way.

Pyjama is the brand that focuses on youth, if neglecting a shred quality. Pyjama 2013 is characterized as a tasty wine, with aromas of red fruits, very deep, and very noble. The palate is persistent, with a very integrated acidity, which gives fruitiness and freshness. In this wine the power of mencía grape binds with a soft, silky feel.

Demencia is a wine to drink slowly, a wine more mature, aging more time in oak barrels. Ripe fruits and wood are balanced with a nuanced acidity. A great wine without any doubt. Ideal for those lovers of Mencia grape and for those who enjoy a delicious wine meanwhile you would want the time to stop.
